BAMBINI D’ITALIA

PASSING DOWN OUR TRADITIONS

Bambini d’Italia offers a joyful and meaningful way for children ages 4–11 to explore their Italian and Italian American heritage. Founded in 1997 by Director Marylou "Mariuccia" Romano, the program was born from a desire to provide children with a richer understanding of their cultural roots—beyond what’s portrayed in popular media.

Through music, movement, art, and language, children are introduced to Italian culture in a fun and interactive setting. They learn Italian words and phrases through games, songs, traditional dances, and creative projects.

From Generation to Generation

Following the tradition of Coro d’Italia—where children of ensemble members once joined their parents on stage in New York City—Bambini d’Italia proudly carries on the legacy. Our young participants perform folk songs in Italian, dance the tarantella, and play the tamburello during our annual concerts and community events.
They’ve delighted audiences in feast day processions, La Befana storytelling events, nativity pageants, and multicultural festivals.

A Creative Cultural Journey

Throughout the years, Bambini d’Italia children have explored hands-on traditions by:

    * Playing bocce

    * Creating pottery, Venetian masks, and mosaic art

    * Crafting presepi (Nativity scenes)

    * Baking taralli and other traditional treats

    * Painting murals inspired by Italian folklore

Workshops and performances are offered year-round.
